Coaching Pathways: The Mind-Body Connection

The Mind, Body, & Spirit Connection
As a person who has spent a large part of her life living in her head, it was positively life-changing for me when I started listening to my body. It gave me profound insights on my emotional experiences as well as my overall well-being. I learned first hand that deepening the mind-body connection helps to manage stress, anxiety, fear, and depression. It also helps to increase feelings of calm and connection along with the ability to be less reactive. By being more in tune with myself at all times, I became better at staying grounded and living from a place of choice rather than uncontrolled reactivity.

Another powerful, and often overlooked, benefit of cultivating a deeper mind-body connection is that it serves as a doorway to connecting far more deeply with your intuition. Your body is just as wise as your mind, but it communicates in different ways. By taking the time to learn this more subtle, nuanced language, you deepen your own wisdom and can act with a great deal of faith in the validity of your 'gut feelings'.

It is important to remember from the very outset that your mind and your body are already fully integrated. Your job is to learn to listen to and value input on the state of your life from both sources of wisdom. The challenge is to find balance between the two instead of favoring one to the near exclusion of the other. By embracing this exploration, you are able to transcend living from a place of fear and shame, Honoring the mind-body connection is one the crucial elements of living an enlightened life.
The Mind-Body Coaching Pathway
Western medicine is rapidly deepening its scientific understanding of the mind-body connection. Leading researchers in this field have widely documented how mental and emotional states can translate directly to the physical body and vice versa.

When we acknowledge that connection, we start to understand how to influence one through the other. The mind, through meditation, can calm the body. The body, through mindfulness and understanding it's language, can help calm the mind. The "way in" for all of this is breath.

There is no more powerful natural way to calm the body or mind than through the practice of deep, intentional breathing. Meditation isn't simply a spiritual practice, there are numerous  proven health benefits, as well. While the Mind-Body Pathway begins with breath, there is so much more you'll experience along the way:
